Dr. Mark Laaser, M.Div., Ph.D., Founder of Faithful & True

Mark Laaser, along with his wife, Debbie, founded Faithful & True, a Christian-based counseling center in Eden Prairie, Minnesota, specializing in sexual addiction.  Dr. Laaser was nationally regarded as one of the leading authorities in the field of sexual addiction.  He authored 15 books on the subject, including Healing the Wounds of Sexual Addiction, Taking Every Thought Captive, Becoming a Man of Valor, The Seven Principles of Highly Accountable Men, and The Faithful & True Workbook, as well as contributing many articles for publication.  Mark was a gifted speaker to numerous audiences worldwide and taught at colleges, churches, and treatment centers.  He loved working directly with men and created short-term intensives and counseling groups to enhance their recovery journeys.  Mark also birthed and hosted the online Men of Valor Program (now retitled The Faithful & True Podcast) along with Randy Evert, with over 300 episodes.  Dr. Laaser held a Ph.D. degree from the University of Iowa and a Master of Divinity degree from Princeton Theological Seminary.

Dr. Mark Laaser passed away on September 27, 2019 from complications of multiple myeloma cancer.  His wife, Debbie, and the Faithful & True team are committed to carry on the legacy of his work that began with his own recovery over 30 years ago.

Debbie Laaser is a licensed marriage and family therapist and was involved in recovery with her husband, Mark, for over thirty years.  After Mark’s passing in 2019, she became the Director of Faithful & True counseling center and plans to carry the legacy of his work into the future.  Debbie traveled and spoke with Mark at churches and workshops.  Together they counseled couples at Faithful & True.   Debbie has facilitated therapy groups for wives for over 20 years and now devotes her time to counseling spouses who have been relationally betrayed.  She founded, along with Beth Miller, a 3-day intensive for women seeking to find healing.  She is the author of Shattered Vows and co-author with Mark of Seven Desires and A Toolkit for Growth: Practical Recovery Tools for Individuals and Couples.  Debbie’s recent research project, “Posttraumatic Growth in Relationally Betrayed Women” was published in the Journal of Marital and Family Therapy.

Debbie and Mark have three grown children and four grandchildren.

Dr, Greg Miller is the Director of our Men of Valor 3-Day Intensive Workshops at Faithful & True and is the facilitator of the workshops (with video teaching by Dr. Mark Laaser). Greg is a gifted teacher and leader and also helps to facilitate our Couples’ 3-Day Intensive Workshops with his wife, Beth Miller, MA.

Greg and Beth Miller live in the Chicago, Illinois area and are the proud parents of their two college age sons.

Beth Miller is an experienced counselor of women who have been sexually or relationally betrayed. Beth has been on a journey of recovery with her husband, Greg, for the last 13 years and is committed to doing her own work towards health and healing while walking alongside others seeking the same. Beth co-facilitates our Women’s Journey Workshops with Debbie Laaser and also helps to lead our Couples’ Intensive Workshops with her husband, Greg. For the past 10 years she has led support groups and worked one-on-one with women pursuing recovery.

Beth is also a trained spiritual director and finds healthy spirituality to be a rich and healing component of the recovery journey. Beth has been gifted with talents to nurture and minister and is truly a blessing to those seeking hope in the midst of pain and chaos.

Susie Smidt, M.A., LMFT

Susie Smidt, M.A. LMFT is an experienced counselor to couples and women who are dealing with sexual addiction and betrayal in their relationship. She has been in recovery with her husband Russ for 15 years and is committed to walking alongside those who desire to find hope, heal, grow and rebuild trust. Susie counsels individual women and couples, co-leads weekly women’s groups with Debbie Laaser & Elizabeth Hardesty, leads small groups at the Women’s Journey Workshops, and helps to lead the Couples’ Intensive Workshops with Greg and Beth Miller.

Susie and her husband, Russ, are parents of 3 young adults and 3 beautiful grandchildren.

Jim Farm, M.Div., MA, LMFT, Therapist/Counselor

Jim is Faithful & True’s Clinical Director and provides counsel to men struggling with sexual purity issues, couples moving toward relational healing and growth, and facilitates small groups at our Men of Valor Intensive Workshops. Jim has extensive counseling experience with individuals, couples and families in multiple community and ministry settings.   Jim received his Master of Divinity and a Master of Arts in Marriage & Family Therapy from Bethel Seminary.

Jim and his wife Marlo are the parents of three sons and their dog, Maximus.

Elizabeth Hardesty, M.A., Counselor

Elizabeth has a deep desire to walk alongside those impacted by sexual betrayal and brokenness, stemming from her own recovery journey. She is fiercely dedicated to her continued healing as well as helping others experience the same. She holds a master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling from Denver Seminary.

Elizabeth counsels individual women, co-facilitates weekly women’s groups with Debbie Laaser and Susie Smidt, and leads small groups at the Women’s Journey Workshops. She also teams with her husband, Chris, in the co-facilitation of couple’s counseling.

Elizabeth and Chris have been married 18 years and live in the Eden Prairie area with their three children.

Chris Hardesty, M.A., Counselor

Chris has a passion for helping those under the bondage of sexual brokenness experience freedom. The counseling Chris offers is informed by a unique blend of his own recovery journey, professional counseling experience, and business background. He holds a master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling from Denver Seminary and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration.

He provides counseling to men struggling with sexual purity issues, co-facilitates weekly men’s counseling groups, and leads break-out groups at the Men of Valor Intensive Workshops. He also teams with his wife, Elizabeth, in the co-facilitation of couple’s counseling.

Chris and Elizabeth have been married 18 years and live in the Eden Prairie area with their three children.

Joshua Moon, M.Div., Ph.D.

Joshua brings experience in counseling, pastoring, and teaching. He provides counseling to men struggling with sexual purity issues, co-facilitates our weekly men’s counseling groups and leads one of our small break-out groups at the Men of Valor Intensive Workshops.

Joshua has interest as well in biblical and theological studies, and has published a number of articles and books.

Joshua and his wife Bryonie live in Minneapolis with their two children.

Elizabeth Griffin, M.A., LMFT

Elizabeth is a Clinical Consultant to Faithful & True and a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over thirty years experience assessing and treating adults who struggle with problematic sexual behaviors, including sexually compulsive behaviors and sexual offense behaviors. Specialty areas include assessing and treating individuals, both men and women, who experience problematic online sexual behaviors, including cybersex addition. Additionally, Elizabeth has worked with partners of individuals who are in relationships with individuals who are struggling with problematic sexual behavior.

Elizabeth has worked in a variety of settings including in-patient, out-patient, military and prison settings. She lectures and consults nationally on the assessment and treatment of problematic online sexual behaviors, sexual offending behaviors and sexual addiction. Elizabeth has published numerous academic articles on issues related to problematic sexual behavior both offline and online. She is co-author of several books and workbooks including In the Shadows of the Net, Cybersex Unhooked, Cybersex Unplugged and Illegal Images.

Sheri wears many hats at Faithful & True. From Administrator to Office Manager to Scheduling Coordinator to Executive Assistant to the Directors… Sheri does it all! She efficiently runs our office, schedules clients, makes travel arrangements, answers our phones and generally makes your experience with us inviting, safe and comfortable.

Sheri and her husband, Dave, are great parents to their three sons and wiener dog, Maggie, wonderful grandparents to their three grandsons, and live in Carver, Minnesota.

Randy has an extensive background in marketing, brand development and product licensing which has proven to be beneficial in the rebranding of Faithful & True, the creation of our website and the on-going development of the healing resources by Mark & Debbie Laaser.

Randy creates Faithful & True’s marketing materials, writes Faithful & True’s monthly newsletter, The Recovery Report, and serves as producer and co-host of THE FAITHFUL & TRUE PODCAST, our weekly online radio show/podcasts.

Randy and his wife, Cindy, live in Minnetrista, Minnesota and are the proud parents of two sons and their four Birman cats, Chester, Murphy, Sophia and Jasper.

Aaron Wellmann, Director of Social Media

Aaron serves an important role as Faithful & True’s new Director of Social Media and assists with the production of The Faithful & True Podcast.

He is a graduate of the University of Northwestern – Saint Paul.

Aaron, his wife, Brittany, and their son, Isaac, live in Coon Rapids, Minnesota.

Peg Kirkvold is Faithful & True’s Accounts Manager taking care of our clients’ billing and financial issues. Peg provides great customer service to our clientele and can answer any questions you may have regarding billing for services and workshop registration details.

Peg lives in Chanhassen, Minnesota.

Terry Zuehlke brings years of experience as a Licensed Psychologist to Faithful & True, where he counsels men struggling with sexual purity issues and also conducts Psychological Testing at our center. Terry plays an important role, not only as one of our counselors, but, as one of our small group facilitators at our Men of Valor Intensive Workshops.

Terry and his wife, Julie, live in Rochester, Minnesota.
