M.Div., MA, LMFT, Therapist/Counselor

If you are a man struggling to control unwanted sexual behaviors, ranging from fantasy to pornography use, masturbation to prostitution, affairs and various fetish behaviors, we invite you to contact us today.
Jim Farm, M.A., MDiv., LMFT is Faithful & True’s Clinical Director and is an experienced therapist and counselor, who was trained by Dr. Mark Laaser in the treatment of sexual addiction behaviors and has been counseling men for many years. Jim received his Master of Divinity and a Master of Arts in Marriage & Family Therapy from Bethel Seminary.
Chris Hardesty, M.A./Counselor, has a passion for helping those under the bondage of sexual brokenness experience freedom. The counseling Chris offers is informed by a unique blend of his own recovery journey, professional counseling experience, and business background. He holds a master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling from Denver Seminary and a master’s degree in business administration. Chris teaches and leads one of our small break-out groups at every Men of Valor Intensive Workshop and also facilitates weekly men’s counseling groups.
David Delmonico, Ph.D., NCC, ACS is a Board Certified National Counselor (#44368) and has worked in the field of sexual addiction and compulsivity for the past 25 years. He earned his doctorate degree from Kent State University where he completed his doctoral thesis on the revision of the Sexual Dependency Inventory which he co-authored with Dr. Patrick Carnes. After graduation he established himself as a leading expert on issues related to cybersex addiction. Dr. Delmonico has served as vice-president of the National Council on Sexual Addiction and Compulsivity (now known as SASH), and he served as Editor-in-Chief of the Sexual Addiction and Compulsivity journal for 10-years.
Russ Smidt, BCC, Life Coach brings years of experience after being mentored by the late Dr. Mark Laaser, our Founder at Faithful & True. He provides coaching to men struggling with sexual purity issues and facilitates one of our weekly men’s support groups.
Due to the high volume of counseling appointment requests, many of our men’s counselors have put a hold on accepting new clients at this time; in light of this situation, we strongly recommend that you consider registering for our Virtual Men of Valor Workshop, which we offer every month. The experience of participating in the Virtual Men of Valor 3-Day Workshop has been compared to completing 12-15 individual counseling sessions and will provide you with timely guidance and support. The vast majority of men who experience our workshop tell us that it is “life changing”. Visit our Men of Valor Workshop page on our website for more information and to register online. If you are interested in scheduling a “one time” counseling appointment to assess your situation call our office at 952-746-3880. Counseling rates shown on the FEE SCHEDULE found under NEW CLIENT FORMS will apply.
Whereas support groups emphasize control of sexual acting out behaviors, our counseling groups focus on the underlying spiritual and emotional issues that contribute to sex addiction. Unlike support groups, these groups are led by a counselor who will control the interaction of the group. A counselor will often encourage group members to share their own issues for feedback from other members. A counselor may also use various therapeutic techniques to facilitate individual healing. These techniques would be done in front of the whole group as opposed to an individual counseling session. It is often the case that the whole group learns from the work one member does.
At Faithful & True, counseling groups meet weekly for two hours. When you sign up to participate in one of our Groups, you must commit to attending for a minimum of two months. We have groups for men struggling with sexual sobriety and for wives or women who are in relationship with a struggling man. We are not a provider for insurance companies, nor do we submit insurance claims.
Groups are open-ended in that a person can join at any time and may “graduate” from the group when they have reached certain therapeutic goals or feel ready to leave. Attendance at these groups may often last for a year or more.
Your participation in one of our groups begins by scheduling an individual appointment to begin the counseling relationship with Faithful & True. History, assessment of needs, and appropriate placement in groups is discussed. Men are requested to meet with one of our counselors before joining a group.
All groups require confidentiality to create safety for those involved.
